The reason for this excavation, carried out over a two-week period in March, was the removal of a bend on the roadway at the south-east of the graveyard. Funding was provided by Galway Co. Council.
The area excavated covered 44 sq. m. Two mid-19th-century graveslabs were moved after recording. Two uninscribed headstones were revealed in the subsoil. The finds consisted of clay pipes dating to the second half of the 19th century, and sherds of modern crockery and glass.
