Both samples from two trial bore holes record the presence of 2.5m-3m of in situ archaeological deposits on the site. Black wet organic deposits were recovered at 2.4m below present ground level from which two thick-walled body sherds of Leinster cooking ware were retrieved.
No definite evidence of house occupation was uncovered, however, the localised destruction by a possible pit encountered in Bore Hole 1 may have removed remains of medieval plots which would have fronted onto Castle Street.
