Monitoring, by Kieran Campbell, of all topsoil removal during the preparation of the site for shale quarrying revealed only small feature. It was a shallow pit 0.16m deep and max. 1.2m wide with no associated features or archaeological soils. It was lined with clay 30mm thick on the sides and 10-20mm thick at the base and filled with burnt stones – pot-boilers(?), average size 40mm.
