In September 1990 human remains were discovered during excavation work on a farm at Creevaghbeg, near Ballymahon, Co. Longford.173 The bones were found among pieces of stones, bottles and sherds of modern ceramics at a depth of 0.6m below ground level. A small amount of the bone (1990:104) was removed by the Gardaí, who then reported the find to the NMI. The site was visited by Mary Cahill, but no burials were visible.
