This excavation was carried out by The Aid Project, in an attempt to establish whether this was the Aid ship, which sank near this coast in 1804.
This 8-day project in early August used a group of 10 divers, including Margaret Gowen, archaeologist, and each diver spent between three and four hours under water each day. Finds recovered during the current expedition included large copper nails, rope, a pulley etc. No evidence of the timbers discovered in 1985 was found.
