In November 1989 human remains were discovered during excavation for a slurry pit on a farm at Skreen More, Co. Sligo.256 The skeletons (1989:52) had been exposed in the side of the cutting at a depth of 0.5m below the original ground level. All of the remains had been extensively damaged by the digger. The burials appear to have been aligned west/east and lay at intervals of 0.1–1.5m. A ruined medieval parish church is located just 200m west of where the burials were found. The local area is said to have close links with SS Columcille and Adamnán, and the Ordnance Survey Letters for County Sligo mention that a well called Tobar Adhamhnáin has given its name to a townland in the parish—Toberawnan. There were no traces of burial structures or grave-goods and the trench was backfilled.
