In November 1989 human remains were discovered in an exposed section face at Channel Road, near Whitestown village, Co. Dublin.94 Bone had apparently fallen from the section face, was noticed by children playing in the area and was reported to the Gardaí at Rush Garda Station. The site was inspected by Mary Cahill. No further bone was noted in the section, nor was there any evidence of a cut for a grave in the section. It is possible that the rest of the skeleton had been removed and any evidence of a grave destroyed in the removal of sand from the site recently.95

94. Parish of Lusk, barony of Balrothery East. SMR DU008-084——. The site was a short distance south of an early Bronze Age cist burial found in the same townland in 1932 (Vol. 1, pp 190–4).
95. The sand had been removed from the site for use at an indoor riding school.
