Two north-south trenches were dug by machine across this site to fulfil a requirement of the planning application. In both, there was a build-up of c.2m of overburden. Underneath it, a compacted black medieval dump layer was exposed. A flimsy post-and-wattle fence, running east-west, lay within this layer in one of the trenches, as did four timber uprights each measuring c. 100mm x 20-30mm in plan. Medieval and post-medieval pottery and scrap leather were found.
The developer paid for the archaeological supervision of the trenches.
