One of six sites selected for investigation along the proposed route of the Kilcullen Link Motorway.
The ringfort site is marked on Alexander Taylor's 1783 Map of County Kildare. Prior to investigation the topography of the area was very irregular and bore no similarity to the contours displayed on the map. A series of investigative trenches were opened throughout the relevant area. No material of archaeological consequence was discovered. As extensive quarrying is known to have taken place in the relevant area, it is suggested that this has obliterated any traces of the once existing fort.
