During the course of rearranging a cattle trough, a slab was disturbed. This resulted in the discovery of a long stone cist containing the skeleton of a male. The cist was carefully constructed of large limestone slabs. Six slabs formed the lintels, four the sides, with a single slab at each end. The internal length was 1 .75m and the width varied from 0.35m-0.4m. The skeleton fitted very tightly into the cist. It was oriented east-west with the head to the west. No grave goods or other features were noted. The site was reported to the National Museum of Ireland by the local Garda Station and the rescue excavation was conducted over a period of 2 days.
