This 'mini' excavation took place on 21 August, 1987. It was an unsuccessful attempt to find a small cross-slab which in the early 1970s lay buried in grass in Killadeas graveyard, close to the well-known carved pillar known as the 'Bishop's Stone'. The topsoil in this area was removed but no trace of the missing cross-slab was found.
