This area was investigated as the pipeline was routed through two concentrations of ring-barrows. Prior to excavation, photogrammetric survey, based on 1:5,000 aerial photographs, was carried out in the area to be investigated. Three initial 30m blocks of the pipeline, each displaying features noted in aerial photography, were trenched by machine. The topsoil in each case was mechanically removed and the subsoil trowelled back. No archaeological features were noted in any of the cuttings. The only sites noted in the area investigated were two destroyed fulachta fiadha.
