The site consists of two concentric rings of stones, c. 1.5m apart, with a height of 0.2-0.5m. The interval between the rings is filled with smaller stones but in places this structure has disappeared due to later disturbance. The diameter is c. 27m. The entrance lies in the SE quadrant and is marked by flat slabs set on edge, cutting off the wall fill at either side. The entrance has a width of 1.7m and a length of circa 3.8m, indicating that the interval between the rings is wider at this point.
In 1984 a phosphate survey was carried out at the site. High readings were recorded in some areas and to investigate these a test-excavation was undertaken in 1985.
Two separate sq. metres were excavated down to undisturbed levels in an attempt to reveal the prehistoric stratigraphy. No such stratigraphy could be observed but in one of the squares 13 pieces of worked or retouched chert were found. The site report will be published in Autumn 1986.
