Rescue excavations were undertaken at a settlement site which consisted of fields, clearance cairns, a possible domestic enclosure, and an isolated house in one of the fields. Radiocarbon dates for peat above the boundaries and a clearance cairn are not yet available, nor is pollen evidence taken from a cultivation ridge. The isolated house was found to be rectangular in outline, with sod walls and central hearths. The presence of 'everted rim' pottery in the house and within the walls is indicative of a medieval date.
