In October 1984 human remains were discovered on Turvey Estate, in the townland of Turvey, near Donabate, north Co. Dublin.93 The site was reported to the NMI and an investigation was carried out by Michael Ryan. The human remains appear to have been discovered in a disused gravel quarry now partly converted to a cattle shelter. Very little bone was visible in the disturbed area at the time of investigation, and it was decided to postpone excavation until more substantial evidence came to light.

93. Parish of Donabate, barony of Nethercross. IGR 321358 250765. SMR DU008-083——. The site was just 1.6km south-west of the burial site at Balleally West, excavated by Ó Ríordáin and Rynne (this volume, pp 21–8).
