An area at the E (uphill) end of the parish graveyard extension was excavated and seven inhumation burials were uncovered, probably dating from the Early Christian period and in a very poor state of preservation. They were cut by a medieval ditch, running N-S, into which a dry-stone wall had been inserted. This ditch was probably a Cistercian division of the precinct. Finds included souterrain ware and medieval pottery. There were also clear signs of lazy beds, coincidentally aligned with the burials.
