A trench, 1-1.5m wide, was dug through the earthworks from the central area through the inner and outer banks to drain the interior. This was investigated and a stony deposit was noticed on the inner face of the inner bank, possibly representing collapsed revetting material. A 10m-deep well was also discovered.
