The excavation was intended to recover remains of early Belfast before development of the site took place. It revealed a row of 18th-century foundations fronting on Pottinger’s Entry, a cobbled passageway and much occupation material. A large 17th-century rubbish pit produced pottery, clay pipes, painted window glass and animal bones.
