In 1977 human remains were discovered during the erection of a wooden fence at Derlangan, near Athboy.202 The site was investigated by Mary Cahill. As each fence post was inserted, a separate and complete burial was uncovered, but the total amount of bone uncovered was very small. As no further disturbance of the area was envisaged, the bones were reburied nearby. There was no local tradition of a burial ground in the area. The burials appear to have been laid at regular intervals and in an east/west direction.

202. Parish of Athboy, barony of Lune. SMR ME030-032——. The site is not marked on the SMR for County Meath. IGR 277556 263798.
