Three of the flanking towers and parts of the curtain walls of the early 17th-century Fishmongers’ Bawn at Ballykelly survive. A small excavation to retrieve the line of the north wall was successful. This seems to have been demolished before the middle of the 18th century, judging from the bottle fragments and three sherds of pottery found in the backfill. The excavation also showed that the interior of the bawn yard had been cobbled, probably from the time of building.
