Two cuttings were made, exposing a deep rock cut ditch and original entrance with paved cause-way. No artefacts were discovered.

Linear Earthworks
This monument known as the ‘Friar’s Walk’, was almost entirely destroyed within the deer park. A section excavated across it revealed parallel banks capped with limestone chippings and internal rock-cut ditches. A small external ditch at the N end yielded flint flakes and prehistoric pottery.

Stone Circle
Total excavation of this scheduled monument revealed the sockets and settings of the destroyed circle. A well defined clay bank ran from W to N but could not be traced elsewhere. Seven burials containing beads of amber, clay, and stone together with pottery and organic remains are of Early Bronze Age date.
