In 1974 the National Museum received a report from Kevin Danaher, Department of Irish Folklore, UCD, that in 1920 a slab-lined structure containing an extended burial was discovered during ploughing at Lisheenbaun.24 According to the local account, cloth was wrapped around the body ‘like a mummy’, suggesting the survival of a winding-sheet. No further information was available. The site of a cist (possible) is noted on the SMR for this townland.25
