In the early spring of 1971 a number of field drains were dug across this large earthwork.
The site is situated between the 300 and 400 ft. contours and consists of a single bank with slight traces of an inner fosse, enclosing a roughly circular area circa 93m in diameter. A gap in the northern sector suggests a possible entrance feature and here the bank had survived to its present maximum height of about two metres. The cuttings revealed the existence of an outer fosse and confirmed the suspected presence of a shallow inner fosse. No finds or features were recovered from any of the cuttings a fact which might suggest that the site served purely as an enclosure for cattle.
