In October 1969 human remains were discovered during quarrying operations near Knappoge, Tarmonbarry, Co. Longford.174 The remains were found over a number of days, and were reburied by the workmen at a depth of approximately 0.9m below ground level. The discovery was reported to the Gardaí at Tarmonbarry, who informed the National Museum. The site was not visited by NMI personnel, and no details are known about the number or disposition of the burials. The report does not mention any grave-goods or structural stones around the remains.
