In October 1969 human remains were discovered during ESB works at Timogue, Co. Laois.160The site was reported to the Gardaí, who investigated the site, but no information as to the disposition of the remains was recorded. The remains were discovered immediately south of two curvilinear earthworks161 and approximately 0.5km south of Timogue church, graveyard and holy well. The site of discovery was marked on the OS 6in. sheet by the local Garda. The site was not investigated by NMI personnel and the remains were not acquired. The SMR notes a ‘Cist’ in this townland but it is unlocated and it is not clear whether or not there is any connection between the two sites.
