A megalithic tomb was excavated in this townland, above Derrynane bay, in March/April 1969. It proved on excavation to belong to the class known as wedge shaped tombs, which appear to be the only class represented in the peninsula of Cork and Kerry. The tomb was found to have been robbed, probably in the last century. A large number of white quartz pebbles from the seashore was scattered on old ground level in the antechamber. No other finds came to light.
