In July 1969 the discovery of human remains was reported in a cliff face at Shankill, Co. Dublin.88 The remains were reportedly found underneath a pile of stones measuring 1.5m long by 0.45m deep but were discarded by the finder, a young boy. The site was visited by Ellen Prendergast, but no human remains were found and owing to the nature of the site it was not possible to excavate the area. The site appeared to be a collapsed structure, consisting of a thick layer of granite stones.
