Excavation continued for the third season at this site where a tower-house, destroyed in 1602, appeared to have been re-used and refortified with an incomplete star-plan defensive outwork. In 1969 the object of the work was to locate secondary and primary levels in the S.W. of the Bawn, and to locate the primary levels on the W. & E. sides of the site. Finds to date have included 17th century pottery, cannonballs and lead shot, and clay pipes.
