First season’s excavation of a bivallate Rath. This revealed at least two phases of occupation, one of which would appear to pre-date the construction of the main rampart. These two occupation layers were separated by a very thick layer of sterile Boulder Clay. There may possibly have been a third phase below the main pre-bank occupation. The finds included quantities of Souterrain ware both above and under the sterile Boulder Clay. There were also two glass beads found.
