In 1964 the Museum received a report stating that an urn burial had been discovered years ago by the grandfather of the correspondent in Sillis townland, Co. Monaghan.8 The burial was discovered at the back of a barn on a farm, near stepping-stones over the River Blackwater on the border with County Armagh. According to the report, the burial was covered by a slab, which was replaced as found. The site was not investigated by the Museum.
