In July 1961 human remains were discovered during bulldozing operations at Grangemellon, Abbeylands, Co. Kildare.126 The site consisted of a gravel ridge through which a road was being cut. According to reports, five to seven skeletons had been discovered approximately 0.5–0.6m below ground level. The remains were removed by the Gardaí for reinterment, and the site was reported to the National Museum. A site visit was carried out by Dr J. Jackson, keeper, Natural History Division, but the remains had been reburied prior to his visit.
