There were two reports of human remains from two separate locations in Lynn townland in the 1960s. In July 1961 portions of a human skull were found in a bog drain that flows into the River Brosna at Lynn, near Mullingar, Co. Westmeath.297 The remains were apparently embedded in mud and were noticed by a local man while walking along the riverbank. The remains were not acquired.

In May 1967 human remains were discovered during excavation works, also in Lynn townland, at Mount Lynn House.298 The remains were found in a trench at a depth of 0.5m below ground level. The site was reported to the NMI by Mrs Ruth Vandeleur and was investigated by Étienne Rynne. A number of skull fragments were noted, as well as leg bones, but it was not possible to ascertain the orientation of the burial. The site where the bones were found lies close to a small medieval church and graveyard, on a site apparently founded by St Colman towards the end of the sixth century. The remains were not removed and the trench was backfilled.
