In August 1957 human remains were discovered during the levelling of a mound at Loughboy, Co. Kilkenny.141 According to reports, at least ten skulls were visible at a depth of c. 0.25m below ground level. A report and some human bone (1957:351) were received from Dr W.J. Phelan of Kilkenny County Hospital, stating that the mound was due to be levelled within two days. As the report was only received on the day the mound was due to be levelled, the site was not investigated by NMI personnel. No further details as to the structure or disposition of the burials are recorded.
