In April 1956 human remains were discovered during quarrying operations, reportedly at a sandpit adjacent to a graveyard at Dunneill, near Dromore West, Co. Sligo. The site was reported to the NMI by telephone, and Raftery’s notes suggest that the site name was Dunmien. Given that there is no townland by the name of Dunmien, it is possible that this is the townland of Dunneill, 249 just south of Dromore West. No associated artefacts or stones were noticed. The remains were reburied and the site was not investigated by the NMI.
