In August 1956 human remains were discovered during quarrying operations at a sandpit near Piltown, Co. Kilkenny, on the border with County Waterford.138The find was reported to the Gardaí at Callan, who informed the NMI. The burials do not appear to have been contained within a cist and no associated artefacts were found in the vicinity. The site was not investigated by the Museum.
