In March 1954 human remains were discovered during quarrying operations at Ballinteane, near Enniscrone, Co. Sligo.245 The remains were found at an approximate depth of 0.6m and were in a very disturbed condition. The site was reported to the GardaĆ at Enniscrone, who investigated the site and sent the report to the NMI. Following the discovery of the bones, a stone axe, a bell and some bricks were found in the vicinity. The exact relationship between the bones and these objects is not clear.
