In late August 1951 some human bones were found during quarrying operations in a sandpit on a farm at Ballyteigelea, near Borris, Co. Carlow. The bones were found approximately 0.2m below ground level over an area of about 2m. The site was reported to the Garda Síochána at Borris station, and was visited by Sergeant M.P. Manning. According to Sergeant Manning’s account, the bones corresponded in size with the finger and arm bones of a human, but no skull was found. The site was not visited by the NMI and the human remains were not acquired.43
