In May 1934 an account of a discovery at Ballynacor, near Delvin, Co. Westmeath, was published in a newspaper.280 According to the short report, two human skeletons were uncovered. No further information is available.
280. The NMI file lists the townland as Ballinacor, which is on sheets 17 and 24 (parish of Killare, barony of Rathconrath), but this townland is not in the vicinity of Delvin. It is likely that the townland name was misspelled in the newspaper article, and the correct townland is Ballynacor, which is just a few kilometres south-west of Delvin. Parish of Killulagh, barony of Delvin. OS 6in. sheets 13 and 14. The exact location is not marked, but the report states that the council were engaged in removing a corner of the road at Ballinacor (sic).
