Archaeological test excaavtion took place in advance of residential development. The site was situated within the Zone of Notification for RMP WM030-111 – a motte and bailey. The test excavation took place in a 19th-century enclosed yard to the rear of an 18th-century street-fronting dwelling. The four test trenches identified a shallow 20th-century imported topsoil over the natural subsoil, which retained 20th-century drainage sumps and a drainage ditch. The sole artefactual deposits consisted of late 19th-century to 20th-century crockery sherds.
