Licensed archaeological test-trenching was carried out at the site for a permitted private dwelling. Planning permission was granted for the construction of a two-storey dwelling house, garage/storage building, entrance, septic tank, percolation area and all ancillary works in the townland of Castlemiles, Lackaroe, Youghal, County Waterford.
The site is located immediately east of, and partially within, the Zone of Archaeological Potential of three Recorded Monuments, including two fulachtaí fia (CO056-013 & CO056-003) and a holy well (CO056-011).
A total of seven test-trenches were excavated across the site, and no archaeological finds or features were found in any of the trenches.
