Archaeological testing and subsequent monitoring was recommended as a condition of planning for the new Ballynamuck Water Treatment Plant in 2025. A full archaeological presence was maintained during the removal of topsoil at the site in January/February 2026 after the completion of the test excavation in July 2025. No features or finds of archaeological significance were found in any of the areas that were stripped of topsoil or during previous test trenching.
