Planning permission is being sought for a development which will consist of a two-storey dwelling house, single storey domestic garage, upgrade of existing agricultural entrance for residential use, provision of entrance piers, installation of a wastewater treatment system and percolation area together with all ancillary site development works at Edergole, Rockcorry adjacent to the Graveyard site MO018-044001-..

Monaghan Co. Council requested further information to include a geophysical survey of the site and a visual impact assessment of the proposed development. The results of the geophysical survey revealed that potential archaeology in the form of a curving ditch, possibly the original boundary of the graveyard, was limited to the extreme western side of the site and will be protected both in the course of and following any development. The visual impact assessment concluded that while the dwelling house and garage were partially visible from the public road, the impact was minimal due to the lowered profile of the house and the gable end design and simple linear form.

In anticipation of a further request from Monaghan Co. Council, a phase of archaeological testing was undertaken on 14 January 2026. A total of seven trenches were opened across the line of the new access, house, garage and percolation area. The only feature of note was an agricultural field boundary which was recorded on the OS map of c.1930 as well as numerous modern stone-filled land drains.
