A programme of archaeological monitoring was undertaken to facilitate the construction of the new food production facility on a 0.6ha site at Bruree and Knockfenora townlands, in the village of Bruree, Co. Limerick.

The requirement for archaeological monitoring arose from planning Conditions 11 and 12 of the grant of planning permission by Limerick County Council. Part of the development site crossed the Zone of Notification of Recorded Monuments – LI039-163 (Enclosure), located 50m to the northeast of the site boundary. Ground reduction works were subject to a programme of archaeological monitoring, in accordance with the submitted method statement.

The monitoring programme commenced on December 12, 2025, and concluded on April 19, 2026. Monitoring of works took place intermittently as per the requirements of the work programme.

No archaeological features, deposits, artefacts, or human remains were identified during the course of the monitoring works, and disturbance of natural ground level was largely confined to a single trench measuring 116m in length and up to 5m in width along the eastern boundary of the site.

All ground reduction works are now complete.
