Archaeological monitoring of the installation of an ESB Minipillar and associated ducting at the junction of Lower Bridge Street and New Line Road, Killorglin, Co. Kerry was undertaken in May 2026.

Archaeologically, the Mini Pillar is situated within the zone of notification of a recorded monument, KE056-025, classified as a Castle – Tower House.

It was determined by the contractor that the originally proposed works could be limited to the excavation of single trial hole at New Line Road. Consequently, a short section of the pathway concrete was removed, exposing introduced levelling material beneath. Excavation within the cutting was not advanced any further, and monitoring was therefore completed.

Nothing of archaeological interest and no artefacts were recovered during monitoring.
