Archaeological monitoring of groundworks took place on a site at Lynch’s Lane, Clonburris SDZ, Lucan, Co Dublin. Metal detection was requested to be undertaken by NMI under licence 25R0524. Archaeological Monitoring of groundworks took place intermittently alongside the development programme between 27 November 2025 and 20 January 2026.
Topsoil comprised a mid-brown silty clay varying from 0.35-0.45m in depth which was heavily contaminated with modern debris. Subsoil comprised a light brown clay. The central area was heavily disturbed and was used as a compound and dump area with gravel roadways during the construction of the Luas in the early 2000s. The townland boundary between Grange and Kishoge, which runs through the centre of the site, was not noted during the works.
No features, finds or deposits of archaeological significance were identified during the course of monitoring and nothing of archaeological significance was recorded during the metal detection survey.
No further works are required
