Archaeological monitoring of geotechnical site investigations was carried out in advance of planning within the grounds of Oscar Traynor Park, in the townland of Kilmore Big. It is bounded by Oscar Traynor Road on the north and Cromcastle Road on the south.
The monitoring took place on three days between 7 and 18 May 2026 and no features, finds or deposits of archaeological interest were identified during the course of the investigations which were quite minimal in terms of size and extent. The investigations comprised boreholes, window samples, trial pits, plate bearing tests and infiltration tests.
