Archaeological monitoring took place as part of construction of a temporary radiology unit within the grounds of the Rotunda Hospital. The works took place within the south-west aspect of Parnell Square. It involved archaeological supervision of foundation and services trench excavation. The exposed stratigraphy consisted of 20th-century car park surface; onto bedding layer; onto mixed 19th-20th-century strata that included 20th-centurydemolition debris of 19th-century material and 19th-century services. Beneath this were traces of the 18th-century public gardens that preceded the Rotunda Hospital.

The very western aspect of the development exposed a terminal of random rubble wall foundation previously uncovered by an adjacent development under archaeological supervision by Giacometti & Nevin under licence number 19E0055. The wall was recorded and protected in situ.
