A programme of Archaeological Monitoring of the foundation trenches associated with the installation of a set of replacement 38kV Electricity Transmission Poles was undertaken at Kinsaley, Co. Dublin. The poles were located within the SMR Zone of Notification established with respect to an Enclosure (SMR No: DU015-115), the closest extent of which was approximately 5m from the western pole. The monument comprises a circular enclosure visible as a crop mark on an aerial photographs and satellite imagery; there is no visible ground surface evidence for the monument.

Notification of the works was submitted to the National Monuments Service, who recommended that all ground disturbance associated with the works be monitored by an archaeologist and under licence from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

Prior to the commencement of works, a buffer area was established to the west of the pole set.

In general, the excavations revealed a layer of ploughsoil, up to 0.42m in depth, overlying stiff mid-brown clay subsoil.

No subsurface features of archaeological interest or potential were uncovered by the excavations; likewise, no artefacts of archaeological or historical interest were recovered.
