Archaeological testing was carried out at proposed development lands at No. 3 St Patrick’s Hill, Bandon, Co. Cork which will involve the construction of new social housing and associated works.

The proposed development land is an urban location within the town of Bandon. Three targeted test trenches totalling 30 linear metres were excavated within the site boundary area. The results of archaeological test-trenching at Patrick’s Hill revealed features which correspond to structures visible on historic mapping. These features may, however, be earlier in date or incorporate earlier features. The large possible cut feature C006 may predate these, or may be a natural feature such as a slope, backfilled to level the area when the structures were constructed. No other archaeological features were identified.
