A programme of archaeological testing comprising the excavation of ten test trenches, totalling 634m in length, was undertaken across the proposed development area.
The trenches revealed a broadly consistent sequence of topsoil overlying clay subsoil, with natural variations observed throughout. A number of linear features were manually tested and determined to represent agricultural or land drainage activity rather than archaeological activity.
Evidence of modern disturbance was observed in small areas of the westernmost edge of the tested area.
No archaeological features, deposits or finds were recorded during this testing programme.
